Alexander Makarenko was born in Odessa, Ukrainian Republic. At the age of six, he was admitted to the Music School by A. Glazunov, and after graduating Alexander was accepted to the Odessa Music College, where he studied violin in the class of Honored Teacher Pavel Melamed.
After graduating from the Odessa Music College with Bachelor's Degree as a violin teacher, Alexander continued his musical education at the Odessa State Conservatory, for the time being The Odessa National A.V. Nezhdanova Academy of Music (http://odma.edu.ua/eng), where attended the violin, piano, chamber/orchestra music classes. In 1985 he graduated with a Master's Degree in violin with the qualification of an orchestra soloist and teacher. In 1985 he entered Odessa National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet (http://opera.odessa.ua/en/) as a full-time orchestra artist where worked for more than 30 years. With Odessa Opera Theater, he has completed multiple tours to Italy, Spain, England, Scotland, and Ireland; also to Holland, Bulgaria, Russia, Greece, Lebanon, Qatar, and Cyprus. Throughout his Professional Career, he was also teaching violin in Odessa Music School for more than 10 years. Alexander with family moved to California in 2017. He is a 1st violinist of San Francisco Festival Orchestra and "Viva la Musica" Orchestra, San Mateo, and violin teacher with the Almaden School of Music & Art. Mr. Makarenko emphasizes fundamentals of technique. His students have gone on to perform in String Quartets and in Orchestras in the Bay Area. |
