Mrs. Zaiko specializes in teaching students to paint on silk and other fabrics.
Students will explore the art of Hand Painted Silk while making colorful scarfs and hand kerchiefs. Students will learn how to apply fiber reactive dyes to silk with a paintbrush. The process is similar to watercolor. Creative inspiration and expression will be strongly encouraged while using basic design principles. Students learning these hand painted silk techniques at our Almaden Studio will also learn how to rework the color on their fabrics. Students also have the flexibility to switch to other media being offered at the Almadens School's Almaden Studio if they choose to. Approaches include both representational and abstract schools of expression. We've taught beginners to masters and we've learned that everything builds on just a few basic concepts that we will teach you here. Over the past 35 years, our art teaches at the Almaden School in our San Jose studio have taught thousands of young artists with many going on to successful careers in the arts. Even more have gone onto successful lives that include art as part of well rounded and successful lifestyles. Our instructors also always work to maintain the child’s self esteem and personal sense of creativity. Classes meet once a week for 60 minutes year round to ensure continuity for the students. As students complete a painting, their artwork is prominently displayed as part of the Art of the Week or Artist of the Month program. Each of these classes has an additional $10 per month materials fee which covers all materials and supplies needed for the class. * Develop patience and concentration |
