    School Policies
Tuition Payment Mode (for new students enrolled in 2019)
    • All monthly installment fees must be set up by a pre-authorized debit or credit card payment at the time of registration. Tuition will be debited from your bank account or charged to your credit card by the 1st day of each month
    • Accounts will be debited on a monthly basis at the posted rates. Tuition automatically renews at the prevailing rates for subsequent academic years unless notice is given according to the "Changes & Notice" section
    Returned Checks
    • A $25 fee will be charged on all returned checks
    Late Fees
    • A $25 fee is applied when payment not received before the 8th of the month:
    • Student loses discount privileges for that period of payment - i.e. sibling discount or multi-class discount does not apply
    • We reserve the right, at our discretion, to dismiss any student whose tuition account is outstanding
    Refunds
    • There will be no refunds issued under any circumstances; make up classes need to be scheduled before their expiry date of 12 weeks from the original date of lesson
    Early Cancel/Make up
    • A student is allowed one early cancelation in a month provided they submit an early cancelation form (https://www.almadenschool.com/early-cancel.html) by 8pm the day before the scheduled class. Once the school receives this online form submission the slot is freed up for the teacher for that specific day
    • This missed lesson will be treated as an early cancel and the associated make up lesson will need to be rescheduled within 12 weeks of its original scheduled date after which it will expire and cannot be claimed
    • Early Cancels may NOT be used as tuition credit
    Sick/Family emergency Leave
    • If a student misses a class due to sickness or a family emergency situation (i.e. student is unwell, someone in the family is unwell, etc.) they are granted one such leave per month with minimal notice; this will be treated as an absent excused and the associated make up lesson will need to be scheduled within 12 weeks and will expire after that
    • An online sick leave form has to be submitted (https://www.almadenschool.com/sick-notice.html)
    • The School may require you to produce a doctor’s note in order to be eligible for a make up lesson. This is to ensure this sick policy is not misused and to be fair to the teacher who has reserved that time slot for the student
    • Sick leaves may NOT be used as tuition credit
    Make Up Lessons
    • It is the student’s responsibility to schedule a make-up lesson by accommodating a time slot when the teacher has availability during this 12 week period, i.e. if there are time slots when the teacher is available and none work for the student then it is not the responsibility of the school or the teacher if this excused absence lesson expires after 12 weeks
    • If the regular assigned teacher does not have available time slots within the 12 week period then the school may be able to provide a substitute teacher to fulfill those make up lessons within the 12 weeks.
    • Once a make up session is scheduled it does not qualify for an early cancelation. Therefore if a student cannot attend the make up lesson they will forfeit it if he/she does not show up. This is because the teacher would have made herself available for the regular class and again for the make up class. The first make up is offered as a courtesy for the student. Any further cancelation of the already scheduled makeup lesson will result in a loss of use of that time slot for the teacher as the teacher could have accommodated another student in that time slot
    Teacher Substitution
    • A substitute teacher may be provided when a teacher is ill or on vacation in order to keep the class momentum
    • If the school cannot arrange a substitute, any missed lessons will be made up. The school reserves the right to replace an instructor with a new qualified instructor in the event an instructor is no longer with the Academy, unavailable at a student's desired lesson time, or for any other reason
    Tuition Credit
    • The only time a student can claim tuition credit is when a teacher is absent for a class
    Vacation Policy
    • Vacation can only be taken during the summer (June, July and August) and winter (December)
    • A 2 week notice must be provided by submitting the online vacation form (https://www.almadenschool.com/vacation-notice.html) so that the teacher can plan to fill the expected gap in their schedule
    • If the 2 week notice period is not provided the missed lessons will be marked as a “no show”
    • Students cannot take a unpaid break in any other month because the teacher has already blocked those times for the current student and cannot be made available for someone else just for that short period of absence
    • Exception is provided for students attending high school; i.e. they may be allowed to take a break anytime during the year provided they provide a 2 week online vacation notice
    Discounts
    • Refer to our website for current specials: https://www.almadenschool.com/specials.html
    Dropping Class
    • The school must be informed by the 15th of the month so that you will not be charged for the following month
    • A drop form must be submitted online (https://www.almadenschool.com/drop-notice.html) by the 15th of the month
    • Any pending make-up lessons at the time of withdrawal will be forfeited.  They do not convert to credit
    Changes & Notice
    • The school may make changes to these policies and procedures at their discretion. Students will be given 30 days' advance written notice (via email on record) of any changes. Except as may be modified by the School, these Policies and Procedures shall be applicable so long as the student is enrolled
    Care of Students
    • The school is not responsible for providing before or after class care for students. Parents with students under the age of 5 are asked to remain in the school during the classes. Students are not to be left at the school for excessive time before or after lessons
    Photo and Video Release
    • The school is hereby granted permission to take photographs or video of the students to use in brochures, websites, social media sites (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, twitter etc.) posters, advertisements and other promotional materials the school creates. Permission is also hereby granted for the school to copyright such photographs or videos in its name
    RELEASE OF LIABILITY
    • Parents, legal guardians, students, siblings, and guests on behalf of themselves and their minor children (collectively, the "Indemnitees"), hold harmless and indemnify the school, its members, managers, employees, agents, successors and assigns, and waive any claims, judgments, liabilities, losses or damages incurred against the same with respect to (a) any injury to any Indemnitee or any third party; (b) any breach by any Indemnitee hereunder; (c) any act or omission of any Indemnitee; or (d) any costs or expenses (including attorneys' fees) incurred in connection with any of the foregoing.

Testimonials

I was evaluating this school for my son's piano lessons but ended up joining myself. My son is very Young and I needed to try out some lessons before committing and the school worked with me through the process of trying out multiple teachers, who were all fantastic in their own league, but I was looking for a non traditional learning for my son.

So though we decided it's not the right time for my son to start here, I myself ended up joining one of the teachers who we tried out and liked. He is Mr. Matthew. As a teacher he had understood my goals and my expectations and is challenging me accordingly. I really like the class.

The school's management was very involved and took lot of effort to understand my and my son's requirements and constantly followed up on the experience as a new student. This is rare to see but reflects the passion of the management towards music and towards customer service. I would recommend this highly. I also love the arts program of schools which I have walked by often and seen the amazing paintings that Young students make there.
