Lidia Kotlova was born in a family of musicians in Lesnoy, Urals and has been playing the piano since she was four. She graduated from Lesnoy Music school with a major in piano performance and earned a Bachelor's degree from Sergei Prokofiev's College of Music in Moscow. In 2011 Lidia came to the U.S. and has got her Masters in Piano Performancedegree at the University of Washington under the guidance of Professor Robin McCabe. Performance is Lidia's passion and that is why she has had numerous awards: She won the Seattle Russian Piano Festival and the Bach and Viennese Competitions. Besides being a long time Steinway artist, Lidia played in many prestigious concert halls and radio stations in Seattle, including Benaroya hall and Meany hall and for different broadcasts - Classical King FM and KOUW. Lidia worked with the University of Washington orchestra and Seattle symphony with well-known maestros like Ludovic Morlot and David Rahbee. Her performance became a part of the documentary magazine When The War Ends, featured by the UW television and the UW magazine Three Sixty Degrees. Before settling in the Bay area, Lidia worked in the Seattle Piano Academy and had a class of wonderful kids. She is looking forward to continuing sharing her knowledge with the young talents who need help from a professional pianist, like her. She will help to overcome lots of problems, such as tensed hands, stage fear and anxiety, memory slips, bad technique and lack of control which results in carelessness and muddiness of sound. She believes, every student, regardless of his/her musical aptitude, deserves to receive the best possible foundation and guidance. Moreover, she will help every child to understand and appreciate music and be able to express themselves through the pieces they play. With the help of the individually developed exercises, she will nourish kids’ musicality and boost their technique. Lidia enjoys time with her husband and two sons, a cat, and a dog. She likes Indian culture and music and speaks Hindi fluently. |
